Default LS1 or LS6 ?

I am putting a Carb'd LS based engine in my 70 Nova 80/20 strip/street use. It will have all the usual bolt on's, TH350 with a brake, NO2 kit (150 shot+) Cam, single plane intake msd controller ect.

Here is the dilema; there is a 2003 LS6 5K mile motor with everything minus ECU locally for $3500.00 I could buy it and re-coop some money from the FI stuff I will not use and still have the 243 heads.

Or do I buy the 1999 LS1 that is local with 42K miles for $2400.00 and buy a set of heads?

Am I wrong or am the only thing I am looking at between the two long blocks that is different is the heads? (well besides the mileage)

Also what will I be able to get out of the LS6 stuff I dont use?

Thanks in advance

The LS6 will have a different cam as well as the heads and also stronger rod bolts and a better performing intake and oil pump. The LS6 intake would be a wash since you want to do efi(although they sell for around $300 pretty regularly) but the better oil pump and rod bolts are nice insurance. If you plan on adding heads and cam to the engine I would say get the cheaper one but if you plan on bolting on the carb setup and dropping the engine in it might be worth $1100 more to get the LS4.

I am going to put a cam in the LS6 if I get that motor also, but how do the LS6 heads compare to a set of CNC'd aftermarket LS6 head?
