Stock stall with new cam MPG!

Stock stall with new cam MPG!
I am wanting to put a small cam in my car, maybe a 220/220, or maybe a little more aggresive. But I don't want to lose my MPG. That is my real reason for not wanting to get a stall. I am at 20 mpg in the city, and 29 on the highway. I know that it is possible to run as large as a 242/242 without the stall, and I know that the cam will not run to it's full potential. But I'm okay with that. I will most likely be going with a 111/112 lsa, and around 28 degrees timing. The car will be dyno tuned so I know that will help.
What are your thoughts of this idea. I just need someone with a little more info than I have.
Thanks in advance.

The TR224 is a great street cam. I used to get about 24mpg avg per tank before mods, about 2/3 highway driving. Now I get about 22mpg average. I'm pretty sure it's because I floor it whenever possible to enjoy the car. After dyno tuning the cam runs great at all RPM. It didn't lose low RPM power at all but gained a lot in mid and upper RPM. I also have a long commute, have put about 5k miles on the car since the cam & heads went on in late October.

don't expect that to be the norm. A4s with stalls are going to get in the low 15s if you keep your foot out of it with a stall. My advice to you is to get some boltons, a nice set of heads to up the compression and flow better, and a little 75 shot. you will be happy and getting better gas milage than you were before. None of these things affect drivability, or need a stall. These things make the engine more efficient and you will get better mpg.

my mpg did not change one bit when i got my cam. Now I'm sure at WOT the gas mileage is worse then what it used to be, but i expected that. Driving normally did not lose me any mpg. With a 3200 stall (get a vigi or yank, no ifs ands or buts about that) you MIGHT lose 2mpg driving normally. Freeway gas mileage shouldnt be affected either.
I'd recommend the tried and true street cam for stock drivability, the TR224. Go with that, bolt ons, and a yank or vigi 3200 converter and you'll be bookin it...

waste of money... it is still the same amount of labor. I still think my ideas best, i wonder why? I know this for certain. I put a 4000 stall on my camaro, i can keep my foot out of it and keep it @ 1800-2000 while accelerating. Ill still get upper 17,18,19 mpg. If i drive normal 15 mph. All these people who say they get 21,21,23,24 mpg. It isn't normal.
Boltons, 75 shot. call it a day!

I like the LS6 idea. With maybe a couple degrees of retardation to get a better idle note. Then get some LT's put on and an LS6 intake and go with the LM1 and call it a day. I am saving up for a new motor and just wanted a little umph to my car till I have the money saved. Thanks guys.

2800 stall, LS6 intake, KnN, Pacesetter headers TSP ORY and LM1 and then had LCA's Panhard bar, subframes with full weight i ran 12.8 at the track at 110mph with 2.02 60'.... i still got 25-27 mpg on the high way and around 20 around town... I just put a 4000 stall in n doing a decent size cam.... and just driving the car home from the tranny shop i could tell a huge difference!!! feels alot quicker from a stop

i like the idea of throwin a good set of heads, matched intake and an exhaust at it. but thats 4 grand. vs 1200 or so for a top notch cam/spring swap (sans labor)
