Default LS2 harmonic balancer into LS6?

I have a friend who's got an LS6 motor, and I have the LS2 harmonic balancer off my LS2 (which I can't use, since the motor's gone into my Z). The question is:

Can he use the balancer off my engine for his LS6?

If it's off of a C6, then no. If it is off of a GTO, then yes.

What if the LS2 balancer was off a 2007 crate motor?

The crank pulley (aka balancer) for an LS-type engine is vehicle specific, based on the "offset" to line up with the belt-driven accessories. There's an offset dimension (from timing cover to rear of crank pulley) of 0.6" for the 'Vettes, 1.0" for F-bodies and GTO's, and 2.5" for trucks and SUV's. You would need to know for which vehicle your crate engine was intended. HTH

I have need to know the difference between the cars and trucks as well. My truck is roughly 1.25"/32mm when measured as shown. How does that compare to a LS2 GTO?

The measurement I referred to is meant to be taken at a 3:00 or 9:00 position from the engine front. There are "flats" on the timing cover from which to measure that distance to the pulley's back rim. A GTO would have a 1" measurement. HTH

That puts my truck pulley at about 58mm or 2 9/32".
