My car never got that good of milage, with a LID, LT headers, High flow cats and Cat back on a stock tune I did a best of 24 mpg with 4.10's and 95% freeway drive from CT to VT
BUT I wager if I had the car leaned out from idle to 2.5k as long as I am not commanding WOT It should get that awesome milage everyone talks about.

Our A4 car did a best of ~26mpg stock. Now my stock 6-speed Y-Body car gets ~31-33mpg depending on how I drive it, I can even drive it agressively once in a while and still get bottom 30's.

224/228 .641/.646 110LSA cam, stage 2 CNC'd heads, Pacesetters, ORY, Hooker cat-back, ported TB, MTI lid/K&N, 30# injectors, underdrive pulley, Spec 3 clutch
32mpg with...stock 16x8 wheels, stock aluminum driveshaft, stock 10-bolt with 3.42s, SS hood, stock Z28 spoiler, stock LS1 brakes, LS6 intake
27-28mpg (including about 15min of 100-110mph) with...chrome AFS 17x9.5 ZR1's, 3" steel driveshaft, 9" with 3.89s, stock Z28 hood, SS spoiler, C5 brakes up front, FAST90 intake (not tuned for this either), lowered with Strano springs
So the 3.89s and all of the extra rotating weight hurt mileage a bit. I imagine lowering it probably helped slightly to keep the numbers up.
Car was tuned/dynoed with the first setup and made 420rwhp/400rwtq at Speed Inc. Trapped 118-119mph with both setups.
Around town was around 15-16 with both setups. I have no idea what the car got for gas mileage when it was stock.
Hoping for at least 25+ this year with a slightly smaller cam and D1SC @ 13-15psi...we'll see.

I got a best of 33mpg on a trip down to nc. I also got 32mpg going to pittsburg but the was the absolute best I've ever gotten in a mostly stock m6 with cat back and lid and ported tb. I also don't drive 70mph+ though either I make grandma look like speed racer sometimes.
