They should last a fair amount of time with a hotcam. Your lift is .525 if i recall correctly. You dont like the hotcam? Just saw you had it (sux). Im currently installing one. Would like to hear your feedback or why if possible?

Well, I guess the cam is alright. The power band seems kinda flat on the streets, and dies out about 5500. I was hoping for more power, I guess if I could do it over again I would have put a bigger cam in there. I will probably be going with milled PRC 5.3s and a TSP Torquer v.3..
When I got the hotcam I was shootin for driveability, now I just wanna rip like hell. The hotcam has a nice sounding idle, esp with headers/ory/cutout.

I say its in your tune, my hotcam kept making HP and TQ til 6100rpm whem it leveled off!
I made 393hp and 370tq with CAM only.
Then I made 406hp and 378tq with a FAST 90mm and an 85mm delphi MAFS.
Now I bought some HArland Sharp 1.8's and will be going for a retune soon!

I had a buddy break an LS6 spring after only a week on a stock motor with no cam. Dual springs are the best and prolly the safest.

I have 5.3 heads Ported and polished. Hot cam, yank 2800 stall with a built 4l65E tranny a zo6 3.42 rear, ported tb, ls6 intake and fuel injectors, headers and custom exhaust in my c5. Love the lope. I havent really been able to open it up all the way yet but it seems to be somewhat of a screamer for a daily driver. Getting it tuned then i will give more feed back.

It could be my tune, but I have this feeling that the porting job on my heads gave me negative power. The dude that ported them "hogged" out the exhaust ports, which I don't really think was a good idea.
Also, when I was on the dyno I was hitting knock retard no matter what my timing was set to. We couldn't figure it out, loud valvetrain?
As far as the tune, I had it done by Hitech Motorsports in Anoka, MN. They primarily deal with a build LS1s, so, I trust the man. He seemed very knowledgeable...

Not too hard to change out knock sensors and harness. Your a 98 too so it definitely could be an issue. Maybe this will help you make a little more?
