cams here!! few q's
I just got my f14 with manley nextek duals, ti retainers, seats and seals. Didnt come with any locks. I have done a search and people said i could reuse the stock ones. Just wondering how much a new pair would run me or if the stock ones are really that good? Car has 110,xxx miles. Also, should i be worring about degreeing the cam? I have an adjustable timing set. But i want to just install it straight up. Should i be buying the wheel or not worry about it? And should i be worrying about installed height? Shimming springs? The box says i should chamfer the i.d. of the spring? Never heard of this...Thanks chris

anyone? I saw someone else running the v3 cam, and their kit came with spring shims. Do i not need them? Anyone know anything about the chamfering?

The stock locks are fine and are what most people use. I don't see why you would need to chamfer the inside of the springs and have never heard of anyone doing so. You don't need to degree the cam, but doing so would give you the added piece of mind that the cam is ground and installed as intended. Checking the installed height is a good idea, and you only need to shim the springs if you need the added spring pressure to maintain valvetrain stability(which should not be a problem with that cam) or to set the installed of the springs all the same.
