which oil weight should i be running?

Default which oil weight should i be running?

so i bought my car a month or so ago and want to change the oil, get some fresh stuff in her....the previous owner was using german castrol 0w30 but i cant find it ANYWHERE would it be ok to switch to RP or M1 5w30? the car has heads/cam if that makes a difference....i just dont want to put the wrong stuff in her and mess something up....will i be ok switching to royal or mobile 5w30 or 5w40?

you can get synthetic in any weight. hell i've seen 85w140 synthetic gear oil.

man rthat sounds good where can i get it? haha

but what is the difference in 5w30 and 0w30?

I run amsoil 0-30, not a big fan of m1. The differents is the start up protection 0-30 is lighter gets to the valvetrain lil faster.

Do yourself a favor & visit "Bob is the oil guy," website. There you can learn all about what's best. There have been very good used oil analysis reports posted there after using 0W-30 German Castrol, 5W-40 Amsoil, & 5W-30 Pennzoil platinum. Used oil analysis will tell the story about how well oil protects against wear. Further, a little moly additive like Schaeffer's isn't a bad idea.
