Default Flycutting needed with this cam?

I have a question for you guys regarding piston to valve clearance. I am running a stock lq4 shortblock with -8cc dish pistons, .041 head gaskets and a set of 243 casting heads milled .025". My question to you guys is I'm going to be running a 218/224 .590/.600 114 +2 cam. What I'm wanting to know is has anyone put anything like this together and if so, is, was, or will there be enough piston to valve clearance without having to flycut the pistons? I don't exactly feel like doing this and I'm contemplating redesigning the camshaft with less lift if I have to. Any input is appreciated.

People have run bigger cams on stock pistons with no relief. I would assume that would be fine, but have not crunched the numbers yet. Give me a bit.

Right, the fact I want to cut the heads .025 and run a .041 head gasket makes me wonder. I won't cut the heads if this cam is going to be too risky.

rough way of checking is put a stock head on w/o a gasket and turn the motor if it doesnt hit you have atleast .052 of clearance

Is there any math or calculations I can do before doing any milling on the head?

Should have an adequate amount of clearance and not need any fly-cutting. My setup with larger valves, more milling, and a larger duration/lower LSA/ICL only required knocking down a minimal amount of the ridge at the edge of the dish. No eyebrow in the base of the dish was required.

You are going to have massive amounts of clearance with that setup. Thats a very low duration cam with low overlap.

It just worries me after dinging around on TPIS's website they have a similar cam that says this is the largest you can go without flycutting. Here it is right from their website:

ZL-11x Camshaft:
This is as large a cam that will fit with without flycutting the pistonns, If you want to go bigger we do offer a flycutting service Advertised Duration 273 277
Duration at .050 220 224
Gross Lift .557 .578
Lobe Separation 112

How far have your heads been milled? Did patriot specify?

No I didn't ask but you can call Gunnar and ask, I am sure he would be happy to tell you what the 59cc are milled.
