Default LS1 Valve train noise, wondering what the cause was.

ok so about a year ago i bought my 01 SS M6 i got it of a guy who had it pulling pretty strong (roughly 440hp) after i had it for about 6 months i noticed alot of valve train noise, i pulled it apart and the CAM looked like someone had taken a chisel to every single lobe and sent the shavings through the entire motor. The motor had a Futral motorsports cam in it with PRC Double springs and Ti retainers in the top end. i fixed it all pulled the motor out and slapped a new LS1 in and made changes to the setup which are in my signature. still to this day im wondering what the cause was. some say bad lifter... how come it happend on every lobe??? my father has been into high performance for over 40 years now and he says the only time he would usually see that was when there was too much spring causing too much pressure or a bad cam (like weakly made) i would appreciate some help or some ideas the problem has been fixed and runs even stronger now but still makes me wonder what happend.

Search is your friend. Futral and Comp(prolly others) got some bad cores a while back and caused some issues, Allan Futral stepped up and replaced some cams IIRC even though it was not technically his fault. Been a while.........

it was probably the cam, they had a lot of bad cams come out of there.Futral discovered the problem and fixed whatever it was,i think it was something with the heat treating process.Since they fixed it they are just as reliable as comp, and have not heard of any issued since then.
