Default How do you rig an old hyd. lifter to make it fixed???

Am going to an adjustable rocker arm set up. Is there a way to rig an old hydraulic roller lifter to make it fixed, so that it can be used to determine the new push rod length?

i took one apart, and put epoxy in the internals, and put it back together..be careful not to get the stuff on the outside tho,lol..
but after the fact i think a weak checker spring, such as one you get with a cam degreeing kit, would work better, without all the fuss..
