Which head bolts? GM or ARP. You can use oil on the threads, but I would not dip them. Personally I use ARP and molly lube, and I am from "back in the day!"

Yeah like said above just put some on the threds but some ARP bolts are pre lubed mine were so I didnt put more on haha maby I'll regret it later. Make shure your Bolt holes are super duper cleen and the torque specs are diffrent for arp bolt than the gm ones incase you didnt know.

I have always been a gear head! I bought my first LS1 6 years ago and I have had to learn that these motors are a lot different from the old stuff. I love mine, now a 427. Tell your dad to try it. He will probably be hooked.

No need, there is no torque value on the stock bolts other than the 37 lb-ft seating. The preload is from a tighten to rotation value so oil will have no affect.

moly lube will offer a more accurate reading because the actual torque delivered is a function of the fastener being tightened, not the friction on the threads. However im not sure if GM calls for it. If using ARP stuff i would suggest following their instructiosn.

Do not oil the head bolts! The new GM 11mm head bolts come with a thread locker applied. The 8mm head bolts can be reused (use blue locktite)

Make sure that you chase the head bolt threads in the block & then blow them out with an air gun.
