Milling TFS heads with MS4???
I'm ordering my TrickFlow 215s tomorrow and want to know if anybody knows how much ptv clearance this combo has...I want to mill the heads as much as possible without having to flycut. I'm afraid i won't be able to mill them much though. any ideas??? thanks!

I'll probably just order them, measure PTV, and mill accordingly...that's what i planned on doing anyway, just seeing what everybody else thought. How much power you guys making with your setups?

To the OP, with the 239 LSK intake lobe of the MS4 on a 111, I'm guessing you're going to have around .045-.060" intake clearance with 64cc chambers and stock gaskets. You have to decide whether thats a good enough amount for you, or find another cam

i had mine milled to 60cc (which gives same as stock ptv) and ran an .040 gasket and i tapped a valve on #1 and #3 at some point. didnt hurt anything and i dont know when it happened but when i pulled the heads back off there was a little half moon in both those pistons.

try not to mill your heads too much if you can. most of the time your flow through the head drops when you mill 'em. get your compression with smaller head gaskets, piston and rod combos and such before you mill the heads for the additional compression.

no actually, I was quite surprised.
I had some minor milling done to bring the compression to around 10.8:1, and used stock gm head gaskets along with the pushrod length vengeance reccomended. the trick flow heads were assembled at vengeance with their springs/valves/retainers, and the spring cleareances(i.e, coil bind, seat pressures, etc. etc.) all were within spec with the scorpions bolted directly on with no modifications. my swipe patter was perfect, which is the main thing i would check. if you are unfamilliar with what im talking about, pm me and ill fill ya in.
as far as noise or reliability, I havent ran the motor yet. Unfortunately I had some issues with a coolant line for the throttle body being routed where it SHOULDNT have been instead of just being blocked off and bending a rod ala hydrolock upon the initial startup. I didnt personally put the line there but i should have caught it.
I went through vengeance racing for most all of my parts and the rockers seemed like a real nice high quality piece. check your valve covers for clearance, if you have stockers. mine were close, and i did a little clearencing inside the valve cover to be on the safe side. use some modeling clay or engine putty stuck to the inside top of the cover and install everything, then turn it over by hand and use calipers to measure the thin spots left in the putty for your clearance. dont use anything that has "spring" to it, you want a material that will not expand in any way once its been deformed.
good luck!
