Default Help with cam choice

I'm looking to make around 420 to the wheels with everything but U/D pulley becasue I have yet to do it. I was thinking of something in the 230/232 department. Is there anyone running a cam like this in an M6 car? I'm starting to look more at custom cams now but can't figure out everything with the duration and LSA. Any help is appreciated.

Go with a medium cam and get your heads ported, you should be able to drive the car everyday without big cam issues.

I got a pretty good tuner lined up as well, he tuned the pump gas national winning cars. I'm still gonna do the U/D just as soon as possible. Anybody know some good custom cam setups from Predator-z or Patrick G? Also I was told to stay away from the cams with XER cam lobes since they're aggressive.

A 230/230 cam on a 111-112 LSA will give you a good combination of street manners and power, but it will only get you around 400 rwhp. To get 420 rwhp, you're going to need a much bigger cam, an UD pulley and maybe even a FAST 90.

Check out my sig. I just finished getting the tune today on the cam. It is the TSP torquer v2 with some patriot stage 2 heads. It drives great and made 425 hp. You are not going to make 420 hp with a low 230 duration cam on stock heads. I have seen some people make that much power cam only, but the car is a beast to drive on the street because the cam is so big.

I have one of Jeffs custom 232,236 cams in my car. Made 401 on his Mustang dyno. Would be prolly like 425 on a dynojet. I do have a FAST 90/90 also.

Yeah i was gonna have him make a cam for me too since he'll be tuning mine. If you don't mind how much did he charge for everything. He said around $1400 for the custom cam, install and tune. do you have the specs on your cam? he was talking about doing something like that for me.

I was looking at the torquer V.3, would this be a possible cam to make that power as well?

with all bolt ons and a cam I made 432rwph.

My camaro is a 2001 z28 m6. its not my daily driver and I would not want to daily drive this cam. Its tuned great, sounds mean, pulls very hard but it is a bigger cam at 231/237
For everyday use its driving to a from work, its alittle too much.

I highly suggest it, it is the SI5 by Speed Inc. Talk too larry. he will set you up well

Which cam do you have the SI5 or the SI5v2? They have 2 different versions.

I'll have to dig out my old invoice and take a look. You're gonna need valve springs and pushrods if you haven't already swapped them yet. Expect that estimate to get a lil bigger. If I can remember I'll pm you about it later.

agreed for the cam sizes you are thinking about, you will need new springs and pushrods.

how many miles are on your car, a new double timing chain and oil pump is a good investment too

I already had that in mind, I was gonna order the PRC dual springs, an LS2 timing chain, and a new LS6 oil pump. The car just hit a little over 41,500 miles.
