Default Help with cam choice on 2001 A4? Thanks

I've been looking for a cam for a while now and just can't decide which one to go with. So, I am looking for a liitle advice from the experienced. I have a 01 Firehawk w/lid, offroad y-pipe, cutout, and ST3200 converter. I had to have the car tuned with the converter, just to keep it from stalling at idle, so another tune would have to hold off for at least a year. So i need a cam that has good street manners, won't stall all the time at idle, but would also like to hear some lope, or at least be able to tell there is an aftermarket cam inside. Like to see some good mid to high power.Currently run 12.6 @108, would like to see lower 12's. Not overly interested in LS6 cam, although anything is better than the 01 cam. Any ideas that go well with a 3200 stall, that may not need immediate tunning?
Thanks

depends on your idle speed and shift points.

The TR 220/220 114 might work but if your idle is low, you might want a smaller cam. A 216/216 115 with 2 degrees advance would probably work with stock idle and give a decent increase in power. Another option would be a 212/218 115 (with 0 advance) since you don't have headers.

well....the TR224/224 on a 112LSA idles pretty nice on M6 cars without any tune (mine did) so I would guess either a TR224/224 on a 114LSA would work on your A4 without too much of a problem...

if you really want to be safe, a TR220/220 on a 114LSA would be a good cam but I don't think I would go with anything smaller.....

if I understand autos right, the higher stall converter should help your idle since at low rpm (800 rpm), the engine and tranny are really not even connected....RPM has to come up towards your stall speed before it will start to load then engine (or am I all off here?)

I am running a 228/224 112LSA on my A4 with a 3000 stall convertor and LS1 Edit tuning and my car has excellent road manners. Has never once stalled or given me any problems starting, cold or hot. My tuning was done by Speed Inc, and my Neutral idle is at 1000 RPM and my in gear idle is 900 RPM. You can still hear the lope, but its not as wicked as you would think. For a video of my car starting, idling, and a couple revs, go to the link in my sig and go to the Media Gallery.

I agree, the B1 would fit the bill nicely.

About high stall TQ converters affecting idle stability. The looser converter allows the idle to hunt and surge alot easier than a tighter converter. I have personnally experienced this. The tighter converter holds the idle steadier when the car is in gear.
