Default Tr 230/224 .575/.563 111 Lsa

I have searched and found minimal talk about this cam , yet it is the one thunder racing suggested to me on the phone.

Two questions:

1.If you have it,...How do you like it?

2.Am I wasting time and money doing this when I can't afford a ls6 intake and long tubes right now. My only mods would be slp lid , stock manifolds with true 3" duals, and Vig 3200.

The reason I am considering this is my engine is on the stand now and it seems a shame not to cam it while its so easy.

Thanks in advance for your input.

i have this cam and it is a solid preformer. i wouldn't even consider it without having the proper bolt ons first though. for the money you'll spend on the cam swap i'm pretty sure you could grab a nice set of lt's and an intake. if your not looking to do the bolt ons and are dead set on a cam i would pm Predator about a custom grind designed around stock manifolds.

I will do lts and ls6 intake later. But, my engine is on the stand. It won't take any extra time to do a cam now. heads are apart too.

THANKS!!!

I used this cam in one of my first engine builds for my car and it worked great with the little mods i had at the time. Its not a widely used cam any more but still a good performer.

You just need to know your direction you want to go you dont want to do things twice.

TTT

I spoke with Shane at Thunder racing and he said long tubes were a must, but I could get away with the stock intake since the intake duration is higher. That'll help charge the cylinder even with a smaller intake like my stock one. I figure I;d post this in case someone else wanted to know.

Keep the advice coming.

i got the x1 (similar specs) that you saw at the track. make sure you have a 3000+ converter or else your low end will suffer like mine is

I can see why they would recommend long tube headers with that cam. With such a reverse split you would need a good flowing exhaust system.

My results: https://ls1tech.com/forums/dynamometer-results-comparisons/476349-tr230-224-a4-dyno.html

Car ran 11.6@118 with a decent 1.6 sixty. I think it still has more if I dial in the launch.
