Default Does Patriot sink the valves on their current 243 heads?

I've heard that they sometimes put a .050" shorter intake valve in and sink the valve job on the intake seat .050" to get more "free drop" for more piston to valve clearance so they can mill the heads more? Does anyone know if they are still doing this? If so how bad does it hurt flow?

Why don't you call Patriot and ask them, that way you have your answer straight from the manufacturer.

I'll try that tomorrow if I have time at work.

I could see it hurt flow by:

a)Reducing the short turn radius by moving the seat further up, and

b)Sinking the intake valve below the exhaust, causing the exhaust valve to be an obstruction to the inlet flow.

Also, make sure that the stem protrusion is within spec. If it's not, you could have geometry problems, but could be avoided with the shorter valve.
