Default Cam/Heads combo for my needs?

I don't know if this is even possible, but let me know what you think. I'm thinking about going with a heads/cam combo this summer, and I would like to get a certain power out of it. When I went to the dyno this fall I was at 313hp/320ta unlocked through my SS3600. I have an LS6 intake and ported throttle body. Is there a heads/cam combo that would not be horrible for normal driving (I drive it on the streets MUCH more than at the track, and would like to keep it driving nice) that would also put me about 400rwhp unlocked? That would mean a gain of 90rwhp, which seems really big to me, but I don't know if it's possible or not. Especially on the LS6/ported TB. What do you think? Any suggestions?

check out TSP's packages... maybe the 224r or the 228r cam along with either of the ls6 ported heads, or the 5.3L heads. A FAST 90/90 intake and tb, or the 92/92 would outflow that ls6 a little bit, but may not be worth the extra thousand bucks to you... I think either of those cams with either of those heads and a good tune would get you there easily $3,000 later. looks like you've got the bulk of the other good bolt-ons to do with the swap...

there are quite a few guys running 400rwhp through stalled autos with some mid to upper 22x cams and good heads.

either of the above listed cams would make for good setups with the 5.3L heads.

and the FAST intake could be something added later.

Are those guys running 400rwhp unlocked though? The way I was dynoed was unlocked, which put my power down to 313, which wasn't very good compared to what I was expecting (didn't know this place couldn't lock it for me).

How good are the 5.3L or LS6 ported heads compared to some AFR's or ET Performance or Trickflow heads or something like that? Are they anywhere near as good? Which one is better for the money?

Thanks for the help guys.

The 5.3L and LS6 heads flow a good bit better than stock since they're ported, but they are still a stock design. The huge amounts of money invested by aftermarket companies like AFR has allowed them to develop a product quite a bit better than stock. You could easily find some of the flow rates of the different varieties of heads, it may even be a sticky or in one of them...

As a result those aftermarket heads are more expensive, I don't know how much exactly but you could contact one of their dealers near you to check it out. If its worth it to you to spend another $500-$1000 then you will certainly get a better product than the stock designs. If you get 5.3L's or LS6's then you'll know there's always room for improvement and you might not be 100% satisfied knowing that...to me though, 400 rwhp is pleeenty. for now. lol

i made 395 rwhp stock heads with an MTI X1 cam only with no pulley and 2.73 with a vig 3200 stall. i think you should be come close with a 224 cam and either afr 205 heads or some good 5.3 heads.
