Default 5.7 or 6.0 Head Gasket for Dart 225 and LS1 Bottom End?

I have a 2001 TA 5.7 std. bore that I'm getting ready to install the Dart 225 heads on and I'm not sure which head gasket to use. Should I use the 6.0 or the 02 5.7 head gaskets? If anyone has this same setup please let me know which head gaskets you used. Thanks for the help.

measure the chamber cross sectional area at its largest points. Add .030 to that figure and that should be the minimum gasket bore to use.

The stock Dart chamber is 3.970" wide, so you will need at least 4.040 gasket bore diameter. Dart recommends either the stock 6.0L GM MLS (.052",4.039 bore) or Fel-Pro 1161 (.053", 4.100 bore).

I installed Dart 225's in December and used the Fel-Pro 1161. I've had no issues to date with them.

Either will work great as long as the deck is properly prepared.

if the head bore size is correct above then yes you can run a 6.0 MLS

The 5 layer is the newest version and is alittle thicker but I am not sure how much..

Part # 12589227
This is a .051 and I believe its 4.02 bore and its 3 layer and can be used with Darts but some say its .053 and its 4.039 so who knows for sure

The point is u can run this gasket with Darts...

The new 5 layer MLS gasket for the LS3 is part number 12610046. It has the following specs:

Bad results. My PTV clearance on the intake is tight but squeaks by at .080, but the exhaust side will only go .090. I'm using my old gasket that came on the car to measure with and it is a graphite gasket for a 2001 car. I will be going back with the 12589227 6.0 gaskets I was hoping they were thicker than the graphite gaskets but I'm fraid they are not.

Aaron, are you running the Dart 225's on your car and if so did you have to fly cut the pistons? If not what cam are you running?

If any of you know who rents the tool to fly cut please let me know.

Thanks in advance...

I replied to your other thread, I had to flycut .040" on the intake side. All engine information in your other thread.
