Default 97' Ls1 ?

Is there any difference in the 97' LS1 blocks and the 98'-2001' blocks ?

97=98 think the rest have different webbing, casting and so forth.

Thanks ! So I should have no problem dropping a LS6 intake/heads, crank(due to spun bearing) from a 98'+ and boring to 3.905 right ?

Thanks ! Thats what i needed to hear. is there any advantage to using ported 5.3 heads over ported ls6 heads ?

Yeah ! I love it too ! I was going to trade my STi in for one !

My goal is 450+whp ! I just picked up a 97' shortblock with a possible spun bearing, so I was thinking I could bore to 3.903 and buy another crank. Compression will be anywhere from 10.5-11.1 to 1 to achieve this along with a beefy cam(.590-.610 lift I'm guessing) and good flow thru the built heads(ported LS6), Intake man(LS6), and 42lb injectors.
