LQ4 with 595, 598 Lift. Valve reliefs??????
Like the title says, its a stock LQ4 with stock heads, dual valve springs, gm performance carb intake and 750 mighty demon. I put this cam in and the motor turns over fine but I've read the new super chevy mag and they put valve reliefs in the stock pistons. They also used the L92 heads (which I dont have) and they are 68cc chambers. Mine are 71cc chambers and wondereing if when the engine runs I will have a clearance problem. PLEASE HELP because I do not want to blow this motor when I start it cause it only has 19,000 miles.
Also its on a 112LSA. Thanks, Lee

Your correct on the cam specs. As far as installed correctly, I timed it right but I did not degree the cam in. I didn't think about the bigger valves in the other heads being a factor and it does make sense.
Anyone else have any other info on this????? Thanks for thr help guys.

You are leaving all the vital info out:
71cc means unmilled. Stock valves?
Gasket thickness.
And you better degree the cam, if this cam is hitting on a stock motor, I suspect either grind is off or you are off on install.
Also is the cam advanced?

This motor was built from the factory and has not been through cause it only has 19,000 miles on it. Only thigs done to it is cam, springs, gm carb intake and headers.
*71cc is stock and they are not milled
*Stock valves with crane dual springs up to .650 lift. Steel retainers and
seats with early valve seals.
*Gasket thickness is whatever stock is. Maybe I can find that out
somewhere.
*I have turned the motor over about 20 times by hand and I dont feel or
hear any signs of it hitting. I think I will be ok but I know things stretch and
grow when they are hot so thats why I am a lil worried.
*As far as advance I dont believe there is any by looking at the cam card. I
think its usually like +2 or +4 after the 112 but mine does not have any of
that.
*I am a tech and am sure I installed it correctly but they never taught me
how to degree a cam cause in a typical dealership you wouldn't have to do
that. Please correct me if I'm wrong on any of this. Thanks Lee

advance in cam is LSA- ICL
So on a stock block LQ4, you should have plenty clearance. nothing to worry about. I would even fit on a LQ9 which has flat top pistons
