i just bought an 02 z28 a couple days ago and i have noticed that when i start it, it ticks pretty loudly for a little bit (almost sounds like a direct injection car).

also there is quite a bit of belt noise, are either of these common?

if the ticking goes away once the engine warms up, you've got nothing to worry about. just the loose clearances of mating parts in the valvetrain. once everything heats up and seats into place it should quiet down. As for the belts, you can just throw a couple new ones on or if you don't want to right now, just get some belt conditioner to soften up the compound a bit.
