Default Packing the Oil Pump?

Does any one pack the oil pump with vasoline or a type of grease when reinstalling to help prime the pump on initial start up? I use to mess with old Buicks and to prime the pump you would pack it with vasoline to make it pick up the oil.

Thanks for your help.

Not necessary! Just make sure you have the correct new o-ring on the pickup tube

I agree. Just put it in and crank the engine over a couple times without the coil packs hooked up. Then connect them and fire away!

Agreed,
I asked the same question not long ago. I did what the rest said, crank it over without the packs attached. I did this and it took maybe a minutes worth of cranking and I had over 40psi just from turning it over.

Would it be better to disable the injectors?

I would disconnect both the Fuel pump and coils.. but also filled my pump with STP, not as heavy as vasoline or a type of grease, but it down help cut down the time it take to prime the system.

I know that the rest has stated Not Needed.. but it can't hurt and does help seal the rotors in the pump and gets the pump sucking quicker and primes the rest of the engine system.

disconnect the ignition coils and while you're cranking the engine, put the pedal to the floor. the ecu will not fire any injectors as flooring the pedal while cranking is a signal to clear out the cylinders in case they're flooded.

dip the gears in oil before you install them in the pump.
