Squeeling noise. Accessories or tranny? HELP Hey guys my car started acting up on its first drive this season. I'm getting a squeeling noise. I was pretty sure it was the water pump so I replaced it with a new one, then I checked the forums and replaced my idler and tensioner pulleys and now I've replaced the belt to no avail. The noise seems to come once the engine is warmed up and driving. It does not increase as the motor increases speed.
I brought it to a shop who says the noise is coming from the transmission (T56). Could this be possible? I was so sure it was an accessory, belt or pulley on the motor.
Motor is from a 2002 Z28

take the belt off and start the vehicle and see if the noise is still there
if not than it is something in the acc drive system, if its still there time to look elsewhere. dont forget to check the ac idler and tensioner
a throw out bearing can develop an annoying squeek but it is usually rpm related and usually goes away when you push the clutch in

I've replaced the tensioner and idler. Motor does not have AC. But haven't tried without the belt as the noise isn't there when the motor is cold. Takes a while to come in.

I would not, as this means you are getting no coolant flow. Just warm the baby up normally and wait for the sound to come in, then yank the belt.

Thanks for the help so far guys, the noise does NOT vary with rpm. Basically louden's around 1500 rpm once warmed up and stays steady regardless of the motors rpm.
The shop used a stethescope on the hoist with it running and said it's definately coming the tranny. He said it could be the pilot bearing? Is this a common problem? I've never heard of a noise like this from a tranny?
