Air Flow Research LS1/LS6 Cylinder Heads
I was told today by a friend that AFR is supposed to be bringing an aftermarket version of the LS1/LS6 cylinder head. Does anyone know if there is any truth to this? With cylinder heads achieving 350 cfm it is hard for me to see where they are going to improve....Lets see 430 cfm from a "LS1" head, sounds nice. Also if there is any validity to this then maybe an aftermarket block (besides the C5R race block) is not far behind.

heard the same thing almost, but was hinted that they are also developing an intake to compliment their NEW casting heads. Will see about calling them on this, like they will tell me anyway, but maybe you never know what you dont know.

They were asking people to let them test out peoples aftermarket ported heads, so they could find the best design and copy it. Sounded like a shaddy deal for the people willing to let them use their heads. The only compinsation was a discount on their new heads. I'll stick with what I have.

Re: Air Flow Research LS1/LS6 Cylinder Heads
I am a AFR dealer and one of the guys there, specifically the guy who designed the BBC heads said we will have three heads available a 205cc a 225cc and a 245cc, the competition ported 205cc will flow slightly over 300cfm. That is what I remember from the conversation. I will get a set of these and send them to my head porter to see what he can do. (He has pushed 340cfm out of a AFR 195, so these should be interesting.)
I would imagine that since they are like a LS6 head in design that we should see 350+cfm out of a well ported one. If I hear any news on these heads I will post what I hear.

I talked to the engineer at AFR working on the LSX heads. Sounds like they will be released at the end of the year. Planning to release 2 at first, maybe a 3rd later.

"If it is true then I hope they don't stray too far from the origional port design."
why would it matter? reguardless of the port design(could be a series of triangles w/ a circle and a rohmbus in the port and still flow 320 cfm becaise it's AFR. besides, maybe it'd make more torque that way.

AFR will put out quality for sure. They should be well designed all the way around and besides, as cheap as you can get some good cnc ported stockers, they will have to keep the price down.

The pricing should be pretty close to the 210-227cc LT4 heads, in bare, Race porting and Competition porting.

My guess is that the bare heads are going to be around $940 a pair, so pretty close the LS6 castings. The fully CNC ported probably from $2100-$2600, but as guys have said, error on the high side of that to be safe.
I know I am going to get some heads when they are available and have them ported, just to see how good they really are.

If they do come out, I can not see them using a different port design. If they do, then a new intake will be needed. Then again, if they flow 350+ cfm and the intake matches the flow, I woul ddump my current setup
