Can a bent valve cause detonation?
As you can see from my sig Im not making the power I should be from a cam/bolt on car.
My tuner said it was because of timing he had to pull from detonation. The motor has been mechanically over-reved once and it bent a pushrod. Im wondering if I bent a valve slightly and its causing a loss of compression and detonation. I've done a compression check and everything was in the 170-180 range.
However I have read that compression tests wont always tell if there is a problem.
Also, I do not have access to a leakdown tester and wondered:
If I pull the valve cover and remove the rockers and set a ruler over all the valves tips would I be able to see a difference in height from a bent valve? Thanks alot guys.
