Stiffer springs will definitely make it sound more like a sewing machine. Totally normal.

I just fired up my TR230 this week and it sounds awesome. I have 7.4 push rods and mine has developed a tapping noise all the sudden! It didnt do it at all for the first 2 days but now I hear it at about 1500-2000 RPM's. I took it out for a nice easy cruise and you can definently hear it while driving next to another car, but it doesnt do it all the time! Sorry if I hijacked but was just wondering since I seen somebody with this cam had a noise.

My oil pressure is great..its at about 60psi cold and 45-50 warm so i know its not an oiling problem. All the rockers were torqued to spec and triple checked. The noise didnt appear for the first 10-15 start ups but now its a tapping sound at about 1500-2000rpms then it go's away! My buddy who has a heads/cam Vette said it sounds like a lifter that needs to pump up some more. He said to drive it gently and it should quiet down??
