Re: HELP shimming YT's/Comp R's/GTP S2's/TR224...
Ok lets see if this makes sense.
You were at .050 preload
With the cam you subtract .015 (.030 dia / 2)
That leaves us at .035 preload
Add .015 for the head and were back up to .050
Add another .015 for the pushrod and were up to .065
Subtract .034 for the shim and were at .031 preload now.
Does that make sense?

Maybe just a little. I was taking the whole .030 for the cam not .015 - OOPS big difference. So I'm not even close then. It will be very difficult to find a .015 shim (I've been measuring washers all over town today). Would it be better to just go with a 7.350 pushrod and no shim, thus running the Comp R's at about .015 preload?

I dont know chris, maybe McMaster Carr or Grainger would have some. Or you could get a .050 shim or washer and be close. Yella does sell a .050 shim.

The hole dia and outer dia need to be checked for our application.

Even if you were + or - .010 it would be better than burning the exhaust valves. I thought that Ace hardware had a good selection of stainless washers.
