Default Another oil thread........Quakerstate Syn?

Thinking about trying Quakerstate fully synthetic. On sale now @ Benny's for $2.99. Pissed @ Mobil 1 since they changed to the 4qt container from the 5qt container for the same price.

What does everyone think about the Quakerstate. I know it's not a normal one you see on here.

So do we still have a bunch of German Castrol 0W30 users around? I know I have a stockpile of that in case of a shortage at AutoZone

Penzoil Platinum and "Q" full synthetic oils are about as close to being the same as you can be. Same type 3 base stock made by Shell lubricants. Pennzoil and Quaker are both owned by Shell. And the differences you see are pretty much in the marketing. Both are good oils and the differences being, "Q" uses molybednum as its main friction modifier, and Platinum uses what they call an "Adaptive Molecule." so basically the food coloring is different.

I am not a sales man or telling any of u diehards what to use in ur cars . I mean i am using mobile 1 just because i didnt order quatum blue in time . If ya got time check out b and d automotive all one word. He makes oil for airlines and military . Oh he has few offshore oil rig accounts . Catapillar doesnt like this stuff to well nor does the big three . Seems after few 100,000 mile they cant find any wear on there parts . So it kinda hard to sell new parts when the old ones are ok. He cost cat i think it was 94 million last year ........... but just throwing it out there use what ya like .....

Well that's interesting. I took a look around but didn't see anything about his oil. Maybe someone should get some of it over to bobistheoilguy and have him test it out...

I don't care for quakerstate. Their synthetic is probly ok but their regular oil I woudln't use. I've seen a few engines taken apart with quaker state being used and they are full of sludge!!! After 3000 miles the oil looks new still. In my mind it's leaving all the contamination behind inside the motor.

Quakers Peak performance conventional oil is no different than any others, they use the same high qaulity bases and detergents that all the other brands use. And it has not been responsible for any sludge issues since the late 70's, Same with Pennzoil. Sludging is usually a result of owner/ opperator neglect. People are quick to blame the last product they put in the engine for all of there problems and quickly forget that there was a few times in there vehicles life that they ran the oil up to 7500 miles and overheated a few times, or the time they were strapped for cash and bought the 1.59 OIL at the parts store?

Point being that name brand oils rarely if ever cause sludging issues, There chemistry departments are paid too well.

Napa occasionally has $5/quart on sale.. have to stock up when you see the deals (which seem to be rare).
