car wont run after h/c swap
well got done earlier today installing my etp 215 heads, 231/235,615/621,111 cam, fast 92/92, qtp lt's, jp single timing chain, melling oil pump, new lifters that were bathed in oil for hours. After double checking everything, i pulled the coil pack harness on both, and pulled the fuel pump fuse, turned it over a few times to circulate the oil. Put everything back, turned it over and it fired right up, oil pressure shot up to normal, i ran it up to 2k as per comp's instructions to get the lifters pumped up. Ran good for 30sec. with ungodful valvetrain noise then just died, waited 2 mins and fired right up again, ran for 30sec., still having valvetrain noise, and just died. waited 1 hr, tried it and it just backfires and the motor turns over slow like a weak battery but its not weak. a buddy told me that the lifters are not primed yet causing the slow turn over and backfire, he told me to pull the plugs and the coil pack harness and fuel pump fuse and crank it over to pump up the lifters. the car is throwing a code for the maf and tps sensor. thanks for any help.

I'm running 8.10" pushrods in my ETP215 headed LS1 (62cc) - as per recommendations. 7.40" is way too short IMO.
Good luck with it.
Cheers,
Macca

well this evening pulled the valve covers off and pulled the spark plugs, turned the motor over and had very little compression and very little oil shooting through the rockers, i called up comp and they told me that when i purchased the pro magnum lifters the guy should have sold me some adjustable rockers as well, what is happening is there is no preload on the lifters and its leaving the valves hang open, i was so relieved to hear that, and it made perfect since after he explained to me, well the rockers are on the way and hopefully i can hear my new and improved baby run, thanks everyone, will keep updated.

sounds to me like u bent your valves unfortunately...i only mention this because everything you experienced...and i mean every single thing you mentioned, down to to the slow turning of the engine without a dead battery...well it happened to me. notice i have an ls6 now
