what is the difference between the heads of an LS1 and a LS6
I need to know what is the difference between the heads on an LS6 engine and an LS1. I currently drive a 2001 TA WS6. If the heads are from the same casting can I just get the heads ported out to match the flow number of the LS6 heads?

LS1 heads and LS6 heads are completely different castings, No matter what you do the LS6 heads will always flow more than the LS1 head given equal porting.

LS6/ 60cc chambers, D shaped exhaust ports, updated valvetrain.
LS1/ 68cc chambers, oval ports, weaker valvetrain.
Basicaly LS6 flow better,are stronger,and bump your Comp.ratio to 10.5,instead of 10

Ported LS1 heads will flow much more than stock LS6 heads, if that is what you are asking. Ported LS1 vs ported LS6 heads will flow nearly identical until you get into the .450"+ lift range, where the LS1s start to fall off and the LS6 heads keep flowing more.
On stock cube engines, the hp difference is very small, most of the times less than 10hp max. On 382ci or larger engines, the LS6 heads can produce 15-20 rwhp more in most cases.
