Default suggestions for a cam with TEA 1.5's ?

Thinking of swapping cams when i install my heads but havent decided on what yet. What would be a good cam with these heads (stg 1.5 5.3's)

flow#'s int exh
0.500 288.8 242.4
0.550 298.7 252.7
0.600 302.5 265.0

i want something below .600 lift (to be easier on the springs) and keep the peak around 6k. the asa cam i have now peaks right at 6k but has a wide hp/tq band from like 3500 on up. would i be better off with a reverse split? standard split (like i have) or a single pattern? want to keep it on a 112lsa and i have the edit for the tuning.

its not a daily driver for the most part but i want to be able to if i wanna.

throw'em at me.....

Talk to TEA and get a cam that is known to run good with the heads your buying.

224/224 .581 112 or 14 would be a nice cam. Im running the 224/224 .563 114 with mine

TR230/224 might be a nice choice also

Ive seen of lots of people doing good with TEA's 5.3 1.5 and the TR224 and then some Juice. Sounds like a proven combo. If you want to keep it N/A try the TR230/224. Research and make your choice, but its hard to make decisions with so many diffrent combos. Ive been hoping someone proves a slightly bigger custom cam like a 226/226 112 with those heads.

I second this . . . I thought the TR224 I got was going to be a bit on the much side, rough idle with a lot of lope and some loss of low end torque, but once I got the PCM tuning done, it sounds too melow, and has the same low end torque as stock! I'd go with the TR230 if I didn't have to pass emissions testing.

What ever you get make sure you have more duration on the intake.
228/224
230/226
232/228
234/230
I have talked to a few different tuner and they have all said this.

i'd probably have the 230/224 if i had a M6, but ive seen where a few guys never got their idle straight with the 230/224 in a A4

any of the 224/224 cams are proven to work well no matter what setup

Pretty much the same as the X1, 230/227 590s on the lift on a 112

Are emissions an issue?

If so I'd favor a TR224 as that should be pretty easy to get that to pass the sniffer with on a 114 LSA. Might be able to get by with a 112 also but I would ask Paul at TR.

If sniffer isn't an issue, I'd think about 227 to 230 ish. The TR230/224 is well proven and would be a good choice.

I also like MTI's X1 because it has a little more exhaust duration, and I think the TEA's could probably benefit from that. I don't know of anyone that has TEA and X1 so thats speculation on my part.

Personally, I'd like to see what a 227/227 or 229/229 did with the TEA heads. I have TEA heads, the actual flow data that came from my heads. My TEA's flowed a max of 200cfm without the pipe and a max of 255cfm with the pipe.

The my TEA heads stalled at .570 lift without intake and at .500 with the LS6 intake in place. I wouldn't go past ~.581 JMO

I was the first to try a 232/226 XE-R lsa 110. That cam rocked. You ask why I got rid of it? I blamed the cam that I had at the time instead of the poor heads I previously had. The carm was peaky, but I dyno'd consistent 415rwhp/394rwtq with that cam.. This was with a heads that were detonating...

I would see if you have the upgraded valve job and bowl work from tea, have them reflowed at thunder with and without an ls6 intake and pipe, then pick a cam that works best with what you have, there are alot of guys that overcam the tea heads and they dont work right, so dont guess and dont go by the flow sheet from tea, this way you know exactly what cam will work and make the best power
