need help 346 VS 383 cant decide
I need some help I have a 99FRC with AFR 215 heads, B&B exhaust, Billet custom cam 236/238/112, Black Wing CAI, and LS6 intake, with a HSW nitrous kit, I am looking to forge the bottom end, and run a big shot dual stage 100 dry off the line and then a 200 wet hit.
The question is I can't make up my mind to save a bit and keep it the 346 or spend a bit more and go 383, if I keep the 346 my builder is going to go to a slightly more aggressive cam, 242/246/112+4 I believe. If the 383 route then slighty bigger cam then listed. I know the 383 would give me more torque and a little more in the mid range, but a built 346 on the nitrous should be great as well. Any real compelling reason to go 383 vs 346?
Thanks for any help I need to decide so we can order the pistons.

The 383 will make MORE torque LOWER in the RPM range theoretically causing you to spin less RPM = less wear and tear. When this one goes I will do a 383 or 402 on a LS2 block. Code RedSS on here is running mid 10's and making 470+ rwhp with a 5.3 headed MS4 383 640+rwhp on spray

I would base the decision on your supporting mods.
Back in design time, I went with the 383, a lighter rotating assembly, and 373 gear to help compensate for the power loss of the heavier rear and the low end of the cam.
I get right at 500/500 out back with my 383 and I love it!
