Crank it till you get 20psi+, then light it off.

Supposed to be an o-ring on the pick up tube. Also, I've found it works well to pack the pump with petroleum jelly. Oil pressure builds quick this way. Good luck!

i did my cam swap like a month ago and didnt pack pump with anything but assy lube....i tried cranking it over with coil disconected tried four or five times at about 15 to 20 seconds a pop...gauge never moved....fired it up and within 15-20 seconds had 60 psi...dont crank the motor over to much because you will do more bad than good...the starter cant crank the motor over fast enought to get good oil pressure like that once it running you will be good to go....

i honestly don't know if there is an o-ring on the pickup....i took it off but it in a bag and put it right back on after my motor work was done......if it doesn't have an o-ring and my tuner starts the motor tom will it still have some oil pressure....?

I hate to say it but the O-Ring is a biggie. What a predicament your in . . Tough call to make but if I knew I had no O ring I would not chance it. Possible the pump may not be effective at drawing oil into the pickup tube.

I am going to overfill it and check again by cranking it without spark and fuel and if it doesn't build oil pressure......I will check the pick-up

Major league pain in the ***** but you gotta do what you gotta do man. Let us know what you find and how you make out. If it turns out you need to install an O-Ring (hopefully not) be sure the O-Ring does not get pinched in the pump housing.

I have a total of 8 quarts in and cranked it twice for about 10 seconds and still nothing......and have drops of oil on the bellhousing even though I put a new rear main in and rear cover gasket

If I pull transmission can I get oil pan off to inspect oil pickup o-ring or do I need to do something else
