Default Who can spec me a custom cam?

I have heard of a couple people here who can spec a custom cam very well. Just wondering what it would cost me roughly and what experiences some other users might have? I am planning on running Patriot LS6 Stage 3 heads. My goal is to have about 450rwhp. I am more concerned about Low end to mid range than I am about numbers though. I am in no way opposed to an aggressive idle but this is my only DD and I drive about 15-20 miles a day in moderate traffic. Any suggestions or advice on who to go with to spec for me and approx. cost I appreciate any feedback.

Ya, I was just wondering if there is any individuals who weren't as.....let's call it "financially vested" in the process. I just kind of want someone who can look at the heads who I have pretty much locked on. I feel kind of like a douche asking a company who doesn't carry Patriot to spec a cam for Patriot heads.

No, I would prefer something at least mildly lopey. I have a friend with a 231/232 on a 111. Something up to that aggressive or slightly choppier would be ok with me.

Another Vote for Patrick G...he speced me a cam for my 5.3, and it is absolutely everything I wanted right down to the sound! His fee is more than reasonable, and he is not at all pushy about trying to get it ground for you.

Hmm, seems to be a strong sway for Patrick G. I hear he does good work. Any other thoughts?

Yep...go with PatrickG. You fill out the sheet with your specs and your goals and he will do the rest. It will cost you more than an off the shelf cam but PatrickG will have you go through Thunder Racing for the cam and it will only cost you another $25 or so than an off the shelf but it will be the right cam for you.

Thunder Racing is a great company to go through.Just to be carefull I had them put the custom cam I bought on the "Cam doctor" to check the specs, thats also not a bad idea.

Free or cheap advice is worth just about what you pay for it.

What's wrong with the cam Patriot suggested for your application?

A number of cam professionals who are most certainly "financially vested" in choosing cams because it is their occupation choose cams for heads they don't sell. They might chuckle that you didn't choose a Patriot cam, but most will sell you the cam and valvetrain parts needed. Choose the best cam guy you can find, but don't expect him to give away specs or make just a few bucks for what might be hours of work. If it's his "day job" he may even do a better job than a part-timer.

My $.02

If money if money is what is being pushed here I have no problem paying for this service and I had no doubt I was going to have to. I actually didn't expect the service to be as cheap as it is. I don't want a patriot cam because I have heard fairly nasty news about some of their cam grinds being off. I know the remedy is to send it off to be checked but that already seems like more of a pain than I am interested in.
