What lifters should I go with???
Typically I am all about doing things once and being done with it but right now I am up in the air on what lifters to go with.
What I would like to get are the Morels but are they really needed?
This is for my 5.3l that I am putting in my S10. You can see the rest of my setup in my sig. I do plan on running a 200 dry shot and revving upwards of 7000-7200rpms (wont be sure until I'm on the dyno).

The Morels are the best... but a lot of people say the LS7 and Caddies are well built as well.
Normally i'd say just go with the LS7's and save some $$$... but if your gonna be revving 7000-7200 rpms... then you probably should go with the Morels....
I have LS7's in mine... It's been revved up to 7000 with no problems so far... but it's rare that it's revved that high

I am running LS7's with my TR224 and shifting at 6500rpm's and am currently experiencing no problems. However, if you would like a nice price for an oem quality product that has the potential to handle high revs, the cadillac lifters are excellent replacements. Had I known more about them before I used my LS7's, they would have gone in without question. Morels are on the top of the list if you want to spend a pretty penny.

Thanks for the opinions guys.... I still can't make up my friggin mind!
I really have no faith in a stock LS7 lifter @ 7000+ rpms (consistantly).
The Morels (from what I have read) are VERY nice lifters and have proven themselves over and over.
The Caddy's only freak me out because of the failure threads that I have read. Has anyone heard of any fix to them? Did anyone figure out what was causing the failure? Anything?
Again, I appreciate your opinions and any testimony of personal experiance.

Love my Morels.
Never heard bad about the LS7's though. Aren't they the LS1 replacement now from GM? If you go to a dealership and ask for LS1 lifters, you get the LS7's right?

Pick any part out there and you'll find failure threads on it.

I havn't seen any failure threads for the Morels....
On another note, I called TR today and they said the LS7's would be fine for my setup.. so I ordered em' up and they should be here soon. Then the swap begins!!!

The morel is about 4 times the lifter the LS7 is. The wheel and axle and bearings etc. are all superior as is the valving in the Morel. The OEM Caddy and LS7 etc. lose their axles when floated a lot which is a common mode of failure on them. I have several OEM lifters here with the axles coming out of them after extreme beatings.
On the other hand on any normal street-type non-continuous high rpm setup we have ever run we have never had a problem with the stock lifters like the LS7 or Caddy anyway. It's just the true race stuff like drifting or road racing etc. where the OEM type lifters seem to get trashed so often.
You'd probably be perfectly fine with any of them in a normal street car that gets taken to 7K a couple of times per week or even a day. Drag racing is way easier than hanging that same engine at 7K for 30 minutes. If you have a good valvetrain setup the stock lifters will live forever as it's valvetrain float and aerated oil that I think kills them IMHO.

We have found the LS7 lifters to be adequite in all of the roundy round racing. It all comes down to valvetrain. If it is stable, all is well. So, if you don't have a stable valvetrain, you will just keep finding the weak point. With that cam, I can't see a reason to go and spend all that money when you are not going to be severe dutying the engine. The best thing to do would be to get ollow stem valves, light pushrods, beehive springs and some caddy or LS7 lifters and have fun.
