Run the Royal.... Royal Purple that is. That stuff is awesome, I run it in my bike, car, truck and work van and I beat my Sh$% up and still goes. Its the first oil I have ever seen bead up into a ball when your pouring in the last drops and sllliiiipppp right down the funnel into your sweatheart... Maybe there slogan should be " good to the last drop" not Maxwell House coffee.

I have been running Mobil 1 10-40 high miles oil for the past 16 months ..started using it at about 125,000 miles and now have 162,000 miles...the car was on 0-40 Mobile 1 before that...oil consumption has always been 1/2 quart every 5,000 miles since it was new..

Although LS1's have markedly improve the use of gaskets, I beleive and this has always been the case. Synthetic oils do not create leaks, they find them. @ 160k, what ever wear is there, is already there. I would put dino oil like a Mobile Clean 5000, or even a Syn blend like Valvoline High Milage.

Get a decent over the shelf name brand, and don't worry about it. Changing your oil on time and checking your oil level frequently is more important than the brand used. FWIW I use Valvoline in all my engines, and if my customers request synthetic I use Valv synthetic.
