I just did the 4th gear at 75mph gear ratio test?
I was on the interstate yesterday and thought it would be a good time to test the "rear end gear ratio" test i read about on here.
Putting the car in 4th, go 75mph and read your tach (mine was 3300) now you have to divide that number by 1000 = 3.3
So i'm confused its either a 3.15 or a 3.42 gearing options.... so what is a 3.3?? lol
Yes it has stock sized rear tires on it.
Any ideas? What ratio i've got?

Is your car a A4 or M6 ?.. a little more information on your car would be helpful. If A4 TC could account for some RPM slipage.
Did you check the Assmebly codes for Options ? Also search for some Gear/MPH Calculators or the Web (I know F-Body.ORG) has one and others on many other sites.

Also is it an F-body or a Vette. No 3.15 in an F-body. I think for F-bodies the codes on the door you are looking for is:
GU2=2.73
GU5=3.23
GU8=3.42
If it's a six speed with the stock ratio; it's 3.42 by default. But I'm guessing that at that rpm at that speed it's not a stock rear gear. I could be wrong so don't quote me as these are just off the top of my head.

Lol I work for an infiniti dealership and most of those cars are at 3K+ rpm at highway speed in 5th, which is supposedly overdrive.

It's inside your driver's door. You can also just give me your VIN number and I'll tell you what you have

If he has 3.42s they aren't stock. 2.73 and 3.23 were the options in A4 fbodies
