Default PP S2 5.3L & TSP Cam Track Results

The bottom line: I ran shitty times. Let me preface as to why.
Today the temp was 88* and humidity was at 100. I was also racing at Milan Dragway here in MI, also nicknamed 'The Ice Rink'. I simply could not hook at all. My first run I had a 2.8 60'!!! (ouch)

Anyhoo, here are my best times, the third time below is me, vs a 100% stock SS, 1999, m6, very close mileage, so basically my car, w/o mods and a good driver.

good run (for an ice rink)
<font class="small">Code:</font><hr /><pre>

330 ft 5.987

1000' ET 11.529
1/4 ET 13.649
1/4 MPH 106.90
</pre><hr />
to back it up

1000' ET 11.532
1/4 ET 13.634
1/4 MPH 106.65
</pre><hr />

Me vs 100% stock ss w/good driver

<font class="small">Code:</font><hr /><pre>

1/8 MPH 81.680 79.340
1000' ET 11.529 12.371
1/4 ET 13.649 14.599
1/4 MPH 106.90 100.03
</pre><hr />

I'm kinda dissapointed but I guess thats what I get for going in the dead of summer and at Milan :\ . I plan on going in october to stanton for a NICE track and some good times.
On a side note, I was the fastest ls1 there except a guy who had a ton of work done to his car and was running low 12's, he said he usually is in the 11's.
-Steve

p.s. I would like to say that people running 19second minivans should not be allowed on the track, esp when they just roll on through the water box >

I think if you take out all the gear you have in your car for sleeping at the starting line, it might lighten the load and lower your ET.
In regards to the mini-vans skipping the water box, were you on street tires? If so, I wouldn't imagine you would be utilizing the burnout box either.
So anyway, all other things being left alone, I have to ask the question.. Your car ran fine @ APE and now @ the track.. so what happened on Woodward Saturday? I'd have to say the G5X2 OWNED Your ***!!

Steve, don't be upset. I get this from my friends all the time. I'm here to keep those competitive juices flowing. Hang in there and wait for a cooler day.

Yeah, totally full car, down to the spare and jack. *shrugs*

They weren't skipping it, they were driving THROUGH it and getting it all on the track. Yeah, I was on street tires, and passed by the water.

Bleh, not to mention you have how much more $ into it??? Our time will come....

How about some free installs (xcept food n stuff) on an ls6 intake and some headers. :p I'll throw them bewbies in your face. And yes, I know...wheels are a coming or the $ if they aren't around anymore.

I would have expected you to trap way higher than 106 and change. I trapped consistent 107's stock block and internals. That's the real tale of the tape.

Young Steven , as much as I LOVE bewbies, Flagstar Bank doesn't ever seem to know how to cash them. I always ask but get a puzzled look in return. The days of free installs have come and gone.

I think you missed my joke about sleeping on the line. I was referencing your reaction time.

this is why, you should dyno the car on a dynojet, trying to compare a track time is impossible, if the stock ss ran the same 60 ft as you , It would have been a close race, but it doesnt account for who is a faster shifter. go get it dynoed on a dyno jet so we can compare your results

Your point being???? 107 mph ........ I'll reserve my comments for later ....... I ran 3 mph faster than that BONE stock.

Just need some tuning and a cool day and we shall see what these heads can do. My bet is that we will see some pretty good numbers. So far, no one has dynoed/raced that is anywhere near being a 1/4 mile machine (ie = full boltons/heads and fairly big cam/traction, etc).

He dynoed and picked up over 60rwhp. I'd say it's safe to say he picked up a good bit of power. Obviously driver performance is a huge variable when comparing ANY 2 cars as well.
I think his mph was low but it at least seems somewhat in line with the ET. I ran 13.2 @ 108 on F1's when I was stock.

becuase its hard to compare a mustang dyno to a dyno jet, 99 out of 100 ls1 dyno's are om a dyno jet. alot of people say the mustang dyno reads 15% lower, others say it can read the same or close and theres ways with the correctiopn factors to make the mustang dyno read like or more than a dyno jet. so with a dyno jet you can compare your results

You my friend, are sadly misinformed

Fine send me the green and I'll dyno on a dynojet just for YOU!!

He did a before and after dyno on the same mustang dyno. I guess I'm missing how there could be a discrepency in terms of before and after.
Mustang Dynos are all we have around here. But aside from that, I've dynoed at 2 different shops in the area, both with Mustang dynos. I was within 2 hp. between the 2. I'd say the consistancy is there in terms of the data integrity.
My friend with a C5 put down 398rwhp on a mustang dyno. If it was put on a dynojet and threw down 450, which # would be correct?

I think a big problem is that I am choking these heads, I think all of my hp gain on the dyno was mostly due to the cam, once i have some better mods, I know this thing is going to fly.

I will second that milan is an ice rink, and is very difficult to launch an M6 car. I can't 60'ft there either.

I don't think we will have an conclusive data regarding the PP S2 Heads until V8maro adds some headers and exhaust.

The Dynojet vs. Mustang Dyno has been discussed many times. It is a pretty well known fact that the Mustang Dyno shows less HP/TQ than a Dynojet, Usually about 5%. Unfortunantely in the Metro Detroit Area the 3 reputable shops that cater to FBods, and Mustangs only have Mustang Dyno's.

For reference on the same Mustang Dyno @ APE that
V8maro Dyno'd I made 373HP/370TQ with a B1 cam, Stock Heads, Headers, LS6 Intake. (See Sig for rest of Mods) The best I've run @ Milan in my Convertible M6 so far is 13.02 @ 111mph, with a 2.32 60ft. (I need a lineloc and Suspension Mods)

Once V8maro adds some headers He'll probably be in the 390HP range which will be very good for a Mustang Dyno. Add the 5% for a Dynojet and that would be about 410hp on the Dynojet in Theory. Time will tell.

V8maro Good luck with those heads! Keep us posted, I'm also interested in those Heads.
Hopefully we will see a few more results from the PP S2's in the near future.

I really think an LS6 intake and headers will wake this car up. There are some guys that put down these numbers with just full bolt-ons. Steve has a much more potent powerplant moving air at this point. It just can't get it in and if it could, it has no way to get it out. As much as I love giving him **** for his times, it's not fair to make a judgement on this package just yet. I can't believe someone hasn't got a full bolt-on car with this package yet.

I wouldn't let the track times get you down. When I added headers to my car I picked up 32rwhp with the stock cam and went from 12.9x's to 12.6x's and a few 12.58's with headers and lid being my only mods at that time. Your car will make a SHITLOAD more power with headers, exhaust, and a LS6 intake. Man, you can get the pacesetters pretty cheap. Your investment in some headers will be greatly rewarded!!!

I wouldnt be happy with those #`s at all. I think that mustang dyno is right on the money for your HP and is not low. Your MPH shows the serious lack oh HP. You have a M6 and Stock it should be right around that MPH . Yes you will pick up big from headers , exhaust and intake and those should be done no questions asked. But I would look at that tune also then move to other possible problems. Id have to say something doesnt seem right. Good luck and keep us updated.
