Default Valvespring life?

How long will a set of valvesprings last on a basic 224 cam? like a tr224 or the one that is on like .581 lift, not a cam with an ultra agressive ramp rate. And what springs will last the longest?

I do not drive my car hard and i never gun it when the springs are cold. I have heard that 918's are good for about 20k and partiot golds are good for like 40k is there any that last longer. How long does it take to swap them out also? Sorry for all the questions the top two are the most important so please respond to those if you dont want to respond to all of them.

There is no written spring life. Springs should be checked once a year or every 15k miles. Based on that one decides when to replace.
Duals are stronger but not invincible.
Call it basic mod maintenance.

ya i have heard that. See the thing is that i will put on at least 40k the next two years so i dont want to be changing them all the time. Maybe the ls6 cam and springs would be best then.

LS6 cam is not enough cam to warrant doing the labor or spending the money to change it for the small increase in performance...put in a real cam and be done with it..you can change springs in a hour and a half ... I get 45,000 miles out of a set of dual springs..PRC or Patriot ... I have used them both and they still were good when I changed them out.

Dont limit yourself to a small cam because your hesitant about valve springs. They arent that hard to change if you have the right tool (I rent it out for cheap money).

But beyond that your not talking about super aggresive cams. Your spring choice makes a difference as well. Some springs maintain better than others.

what cam do you run to get those kind of miles on springs? Like if i ran a tr224 with only .566 lift what kinda miles would i get out of it with dual springs vs. Like a stealth 2 which has a more agressive ramp rate and more lift.

Are you the one who rents out the whole cam swap tools package? I would like a pm of the price or you can post it on here if you would like. Would i see any benefits in spring life if i ran running dual golds up to .650 lift on a tr224 that the is only .566 lift? I know thay are safer because of the two springs.

Id invest in the crane dual valve spring compressor first. I dont go much over 15-18k on my dual valve springs. Whether it be PRC or Patriot gold. Thats just me, plus my cam is an ms3

Well might be easier if I post it here for everyone else..lol

the package includes: the Crane dual spring tool, jpr lifter rods, air hose/fitting for cylinders, pulley instal tool and Comp cams pushrod length checker. I do have a puller for after market pullies ( 3 screw kind not 3 jaw) as well if needed.

Terms are $40 rental fee plus s/h and deposit on tools = $298 with $240 returning for tool deposit. 2 week rental

One cam that I put 45,000 miles on the springs was a 233/233 .595/.595 112 + 0 LSA..the other cam was a 224/228 .588/.588 110 + 0 LSA

If you are going to run a 224 cam you will have a long spring life...if you want to discuss spring life call texas speed and ask them how long that they run those dual springs in their cars and you will be surprised how long they will last..anyone who changes them out at 15,000 mile intervals is wasting money and doing extra work.

I would say another thing for spring life is the RPM's you will be turning, and how often you will turn those RPM's...

but sounds to me your wanting to drive it mostly... or not?

I have over 20K miles on old Rev duals.
Granted my cam is a 220 with .563 lift but you get the idea.
