Default Breaking in engine and clutch?

Ok so I've read about people breaking in their engine's but I have a problem with mine. Not only am I putting a new engine in, I'm installing a new clutch setup. Now they recommend the car be driven moderately for 500 miles to break the clutch in. I know with the engine, people are saying to heat cycle it once, vary rpm's and apply loads, etc. What's everyone's input on this? I'm more concerned about the engine then the clutch, but I don't want to damage either. This is more of an engine question to me so I figured this is the better section.

Default

For the clutch, moderate releases, no launching, burnouts, riding the clutch, etc. That leaves you free to apply moderate loads, vary speeds etc. with the engine as long as the clutch is fully released.
