Default Having a new motor built. Have a couple questions.

Long story short, went to the track with my new slicks, the clutch/pressure plate grenaded and took out my tranny, bellhousing, headers, engine block and various underhood components, and wiring. Within the next month I am having ARE build me a 382 all bore. My questions are if I can get an LS6 block for $6-700, is it worth it and is it any stronger than an LS1? Also I was thinking about using a set of LS6 heads, are they worth the extra money over a set of LS1's on a big bore motor. Thanks.

Rob,
I would definitely go with the LS6 block and Thermal coat EVERYTHING.

Why do I want to thermal coat everything? Who does it and how much?

...that blows ....oh well, it could be worse - Don Garlets got is foot cut off when the clutch on his nitro-burning chrysler hemi dragster gernaded....

..This lead to the development of the rear engine dragster in the early 70's.....

Anyone going to the NHRA drag races at Reading PA this weekend?

Rob, LS6 block has improved PCV channels. Not so sure how much more power you can get out of LS6 heads vs how much more it costs.

robertbartsch...I'm going to Reading saturday
