Default low oil pressure reading

I have a 98 SS Camaro. I live in Puerto Rico and the temperature here is 95 degrees almost everyday, so the engine runs really hot. Last oil change, I used Mobil one 10-40 but another guy here is using Mobil one 20-50 because our hot weather situation. My car has 140,000 miles on it. Which one should I use to see if the oil pressure increases; please remember the temperature here. Thanks, Mike.

At idle with engine about 200 degrees: a little below 20# but it don't go above 50# on acceleration.

Im having an issue like that as well right now. I started tearing into it today. I dont have the 24mm socket to get the crank pulley out or else i would have gotten to what i need to check out. Im thinking that my cam retainer seal is gone causing me to lose pressure. My pressure at hot idle is sitting at about 8-10psi which is way too low, and thats with a melling high pressure pump.

Because of the reading or the milage? And what about the oil numbers; 10-40 Vs 20-50?

oil pressure will go up only because the pump will have to work harder to push the heavy oil throug the motor. but your oil pressure seems normal according to GM.

So you are saying that a little below 20# at times is acceptable?
