Ported 5.3Ls bad idea for carbed .651 lift cam?
I'm just about to buy cylinder heads and i'm pretty sure i want 5.3L heads as they have the shortest intake runners. I am hoping the short intake runners, in combination with the short runners on my victor jr and my carb running through a street scoop with the added compression will really be the best for my setup. I know AFRs anre ET heads are probably ideal anyway but i'm still on the stock $200 LS1 longblock i bought and i just cant see me throwing $3000 into a set of heads before a shortblock.
Anyone think these would be a good choice for a carb setup? I know my cam isnt a split cam or anything but i know my exhaust is extremely free flowing. Hooker coated LTs, no cats, no mufflers, 3" all into x pipe and side exits before the rear wheels. And the intake should be as equally free flowing. I was looking at prc 5.3Ls

We've had several customers run the PRC 5.3l heads with carb setups. Unfortunately I don't have any dyno numbers from a setup like this, we just haven't had maby carb combos on our dyno.
The cylinder heads should work really well for you IMHO.
