Default Pics from tear down

Here a couple pics I snapped while tearing down my short block last night. 2 weeks ago my car started making a knocking noise. Was pretty sure it was a rod or main bearing, and it looks like I was right. Lots of trash in the motor. I only got one main(was pretty bad) and one rod bearing(that one looked good) off to take a peek at it.

I plan on reusing my heads but going with a new cam as the bearings def. got starved and the cam has some scaring on it.

bad stuff there.. how about the cylinder walls ?

What are your complete plans.. a complete rebuild ? let us know what else you find and what caused the damage ?

Cylinder walls seem to be okay. I won't be sure until I get it to the machine and they can check it all out and let me know.

As far as what caused this to happen, I have no idea. I've got a feeling the lifter that came apart back in March is the culprit. The short block had 143k on the clock and has had new rod and main bearings installed once before I ever got the car. So the clock was ticking to begin with.

If everything goes how I would like for it to here's the plan.
All new bearings, hone clean up etc.
Rebuild using the stock rotating assembly using ARP rod bolts.
New cam, but not sure on any specs. Reusing my heads but adding new springs seals etc. Nothing to drastic, just a solid rebuild since this is my d.d and I don't plan on ever spraying it or getting crazy with it.

Yeah.. 143k, most likely could have gone much more, but it would not have been any fun driving it like a 143k car !.. so.. I guess this is as good of a reason to get the engine refreshed.

Sound like a reasonable plan without any overkill.. is the Crank ok ?

I think it will be okay, but won't know for sure until I get it over to the machine shop and they check it out.
