Default to rebuild or start fresh?

well i'm stuck in a position with my '99 TA. it has 109k miles and runs great. the only modification is an SLP LM1 catback...i've had the car a little over a year now and i want to start on the engine. i'm undecided whether or not i should tear the stock 346 down to the block and start fresh with all forged internals, cam, heads, etc or if i should just ditch the stock 5.7 and upgrade to a 6.0 LQ9 block and build it. i'm not turning this car into a race car, i just want a fast street car to take to the strip every so often that puts down 550-600 rwhp.

does it matter what i do? am i good either way? i'd like to keep the 5.7L...somewhat because it would be a bit cheaper and less time consuming to keep the LS1. sorry i'm not very knowledgeable on this car yet.

Not just hard but costly! Big time. Your better going big cubes custom cam big intake and great heads. You will get closer to your hp goals that way.

yeah i know it sounded like i wanted to stay NA, but i realized that is going to make it really hard to get past the 500 mark, so i've been looking into a twin turbo. possibly from APS.

thanks for the insight guys.
