your asking if that cam is too big to pass smog. Then yes

about the biggest you can safely go without of an out-of-this-world tune is a 224-224-112LSA or about a 228-228-114LSA or there abouts

I believe as long as you keep your overlap at 0 or negative you will pass. The cam you mentioned has 16 degrees of overlap and would not pass.

ethanol has zero emissions so if you run your car with a lot of ethanol for the test you will be able to pass.

You are so not going to pass.

Ive seen people with a 224/224 on a 114 have trouble passing here, but alot of them do slip by. If you want to remain legal, go for a split. 220/226 with moderate lift on a 115+ or somthing along those lines should take advantage of the legal exhaust and intake bias. Even running somthing like a CheaTR 214/230 .601/.575 117 LSA would be an option.

You could always leave the stock cam in, take it to have it smogged, then put the big cam back.

You would need to have HPTuners, or a friend that does, and have two seperate tunes.

Just an idea.

You did not just seriously ask this question..

you also mentioned headers.. well.. you can't do longtubes in Cali, you'll fail a visual inspection.

Move to another state.

From what I understand getting 0 or - overlap is the key Headers are really needed to take full advantage of any decent sized cam and then you will fail the visual test so maybe the Cheatr is your best option so you can stay stock exhaust. Can you get by with some mids and a 224?

Maybe join a car club and find out where all the big mod guys around there get their car inspected. Everbody knows it goes on

I think the reason is that there is so many people here.
They have to get the cars to put out less smog to be on par with other states that have less cars.

You mean I can move to California and get me a sissy illegal alien man to marry so we can collect welfare and food stamps and sit around and smoke medical marijuana all day, but if I put a big cam in my LS when I get there I'll get busted? Damn, and to think I already had my bags packed.
