Default 98 heads on a 00 block

I am currently in the middle of my head and cam swap and I read somewhere that the 98 heads will not work on a 00 block is this true? I have a set of ported 98 heads in the machine shop right now and I want to be sure they will work on my car??

should be just fine, never heard that, now you do need to make sure that you have the right valve covers, that was around the time they changed form perimeter bolts to center bolt valve covers.

If they are the 853 heads they will have a notch in them which will have to be welded or run the graphite gasket if not the your good.

The 853 castings are what came off my stock motor. The heads I am putting on are the 908 castings.

98 = 806 castings
these also have the notch in the head you need 98 only gaskets or there is a aftermarket one that works but make sure you check if not you'll be leaking water.

Well do the 853 castings and the 806 castings have the same notch?
