Default Bolt on LS1 + cam vs Stock Z06 2002

hi my friends want to race with his Z06 2002 stock,i already have bolt on LS1 only need for a cam,i considering 228R from texas speed.

Do you think a LS1 2002 M6 bolt on +cam Have chances to Z06 2002 stock?
i also have an LT1 H/C bolt on i already won,but he doesnt believe that a LS1 with only cam and full bolts on have chances.

I think it will e pretty close but the Corvettes hook alot better off the line and if your not on drag radials especially with a cam I dont know if you will be able to run with the ZO6 on top end but I would sure try it if I were you. Have fun and take a crack at it.

From a dig or roll??? I think from a roll you will beat him for sure and from a dig it depends if you can hook. The Z06 makes like 360rwhp in stock form and with a cam you will be anywere from 380-400 ish to the wheels.

I'd say the Z would pull a 228 cammed car. The 228 isn't exactly a big, powerhouse of a cam. Every car is different though, drivers are different... There's really no clear cut answer besides "Go race and see."

My 228R does alright....

I'd say that cam-only you should take him from a roll no problem. From a dig, it would be close but you should get him if you can hook up.

Keep in mind that if he can actually drive then your dealing with an 11sec car.

In your dreams a stock 2002 Z06 will run in the 11sec range in the heat of Mexico. If your running drag radials then you should beat him from a dig or a roll.A stock 2002 Z06 is a nice car,but a modded (cam & boltons) LS1 will win that race.

I have a little experience with this.... It's a drivers race from a dig. The Z06 does have the advantage here being lighter and has better gearing. From a 2nd gear roll you should be able to pull and hold around 1/2 car from 60-120mph. From then on he will start closing and pass you due to better aerodynamics and gearing. The higher you start the roll race the more advantage he has. The above assumes two good drivers and no driver error. HTH

Z06 for the win,my car was stock and running with cammed&heads&cammed cars with a much stronger cams two drivers to different cars.It will be a close race but alot of vette drivers cant drive.

02 Z's had the M12 6 speed with more aggressive gearing vs an Fbody T56.

Combined with their rear 3.42 gearing and M12 trans ratio, the Z06 is more like a 3.90-4.10 geared car.

Z06 has it due to the weight advantage.

My **** poor run in my stock (at the time) 2003 Z06 netted 115 mph. Most will trap between 114-116 and I've seen some as high as 118 mph.

Good luck.
