Too good to be true (rockers)?
Hi All,
I'm relatively new to the LSx world and saw these rockers on E-Bay for an unreal price. Can I ASSume they're cheap Chinese junk? What's the recommended roller rocker for a 0.600" lift cam?
TIA!
Russ

Yup, considering a cam change. I'm a swapper ('03 Corvette into '72 Maverick) and will be using a Victor JR / MSD-6010 setup. This is not a daily driver and my converter is pretty loose (3600) so I can get away with a bunch of cam. My initial thought is to keep it as-is and get it running and sorted out, then jump up to a 408" stroker. Ahh, but the lure of a lumpy cam...
Also on E-bay are some "reground" stock cams with a "buy it now" price of $100.00, are they junk? Will regrinding remove any heat-treat and result in soft lobes?

If you are really looking for a power set up than you should get a custom ground cam. they are about the same price as an aftermarket cam anyway. there are a bunch of sponsors on the site who can hook you up.

I just bought a set of Harland Sharp rockers from Ron@Vengence for 125+ shipping, = 148. CANNOT BEAT THAT, tell Ron I sent you that way, by the way I got the rockers yesterday and ordered them monday, they look excellent.
DO NOT trust your internal engine parts to EBAY crap, if you do at least let us know how long it lasted. May be fine but why risk it.

The rockers are the only stock part in my valvetrain/top-end of my motor. In most cases, they are plenty sufficient. The only true upgrade IMO is yellow terra rockers.... and even people have had problems with those.
Stockers get my vote all day long.

Scorpions are not shaft mounts, but they use a unique "U" channel that makes them act like they are. You have to install a set see what I'm talking about. No hardened pushrods or guide plates required with the Scorpions. They're available in 1.7s and 1.8s. $379 and they have a lifetime warranty. I don't think eBay offer that. The little bit you save on eBay will end up costing you a lot more in the end if they don't meet your expectations. I wouldn't buy anything on eBay unless I was looking for a gift for someone I don't like very much then eBay would be my first choice. I'll bet they would get that warm and fuzzy feeling when I handed them my gift and told them "I got it on eBay".

Here is something to think about on the ebay add. The rockers are made out of stainless steel, which is heavy ****, but the add says, "designed to minimize reciprocating weight". I purchased a set of ebay roller rockers one time for a BBC and that turned into the biggest damn mistake I ever made in engine building. After the 4th one broke, in less than 1000 miles, I threw them all in the trash and swapped to a name brand rocker.

I tried these & couldn't get the wipe pattern properly adjusted. For this reason, they were returned. They appeared to be of good quality. My cam lobes have different intake & exhaust lifts & the single shaft mount design of these rockers would have required two different length push rods. Also, the fixed pedestal mount used to mount these rockers, made them non adjustable. I went with 1.8 PRW roller rockers that are really just a discounted version of a Comp Cam design. I had to chamfer the underside slot in order to clear the stud mount nuts because of the adjustment required for my cam. Otherwise, there has been no issue w/ the PRW's & have made several 6,400 RPM WOT pulls. So, maybe the PRW's are an affordable alternative for you.
Anyway, I personally don't automatically dissmiss e-bay items, just because the item is sold on e-bay. There are even LS1tech site sponsors that sell items through e-bay. I have bought an assembled block, beslt tensioner, & other items through e-bay without issue. So, it's not all junk. Further, if you pay through PayPal or your personal credit card, most items are covered up to $2,000. Just check the add to be sure.
