Question about timing
Ok, I have a huge dilemma, I have a 98 f-body with a 408 stroker and what was a 4L60E trany with 4.10 gears and stock suspension with a 200 shot of NOS. I was running 1.56 60 foot 6.96 1/8 mile and 11.12 in the 1/4. I changed the trany to a turbo 350 with trans brake and 4800 stall, moser 12bolt with a 3.73 gear ratio, steel tube drive shaft and complete BMR rear suspension including torque arm, upper control, lower control , panhard rod, all of which are adjustable and QA shocks with factory springs. The only thing that is still stock on this car is the K- member A arms and front shocks. I am running 28" 10.5 drag and skinnys on the front. My problem is that my car is now almost a full second slower in quarter and and running a 1.75 60 foot and 7.5 1/8 mile. I know that I am not hooking when I foot brake, trans brake and especially trans brake with nitrous.
Any body have any ideas on whats going on.

Well,l you changed the rear gears, which will make you slower, and I'm not sure what the ratios are of the trannys, but I think the 350 has a numercally lower 1st and maybe second gear. I would change the rear gears.

1st gear ratio:
4l60E = 3.06:1
th350 = 2.52:1
rear end you had 4.10:1 and now you have 3.73:1
are you trying to make the car slower?
both of the changes you made will hurt your 60ft times
something still is not right,, my s-10 has a th350 and 3.73 rear end and only a 364 ci ls engine and with 125 jets it runs 10's with a 1.7 60 ft time
you have a stroker 408 engine and should be making way more power than my junkyard 6.0 engine,, is your engine hurt?, i would do a compression and leak down test, you should be running easy low 10's with that combo

Thanks for the reply, I know that I made the car less quick when I wen to a 3.73 gear. I did that on purpose because I was running out of gear with my 4.11 by the end of the quarter. Almost completely out, like 6700 RPM's. I wanted more flex room for the NOS. I just need to know why you think my car is not hooking up with those huge *** slick I have on it. All calibers have been shimmed and spaced properly, the damn thing just will not hook. Am I having a rebound issue. I know for a fact that this thing should be running in the low 10's solid with my current set up.
Any Ideas
Thanks again for the reply

even with a 1.7 60ft you should have no problems making a 10 sec run, my 94 camaro ran a mid 10 with a 1.6 60 ft time, and my s-10 runs a 1.7 60ft spinning
this is why i think you may be down on power or some other issue
